My husband and I recently stayed in Ryan's condo for a week. The space was everything I had hoped for - great view (the ocean is directly outside the sliding door!), great location (it was easy to get anywhere we wanted to go), and great amenities. The pictures and descriptions are accurate. It was a wonderful place to stay during our trip. We will definitely be back!

Great condo! You won’t find a condo that provides as many amenities as Maui Sands. Our stay was eight nights in June with three TEENAGE grandkids. They had the time of their life - - even if it was with the grandparents! We were all impressed with the many, great accommodations and unbelievable view. The location is mid-way between the Kaanapali Resort area and Kaapalua. The kids especially enjoyed walking the town of Lahaina, seeing the beautiful, large, banyan tree, enjoying the different shops and wanting to try out all the different restaurants.
The kids enjoyed great snorkeling right out the back of the condo, literally, right outside the condo’s back door. You walk down a few steps and are in the ocean water. They enjoyed the beach so much they didn’t have a chance to use the pool. The trade winds were so enjoyable. No need to use an air conditioner. The sofa bed in the living room provided the lull of the ocean for a good night’s sleep.
The kitchen was well supplied to accommodate cooking/eating in vs. always having to dine out. The three cookbooks were hilarious to read (yes, for those who like to read cook books – you will know what I mean when you see these). The stainless steel sink is big enough to do laundry, however, the condo provides a laundry area equipped with great commercial washers and dryers close by.
The condo also provides eco-friendly soaps, shampoos, sheets, etc., as well as the most fought over amenity, the full body massage chair (kids liked even better than Netflix)! They did, however, enjoy the big screen, high definition TV and with 3D glasses. Who can’t watch Avatar over and over again in 3-D? Ryan was more than accommodating to ensure our visit was the most enjoyable ever. He was also great with providing recommendations for a number of places to visit and restaurant suggestions.

We choose this condo based on the reviews and pictures on tripadvisor. It was a faboulous stay. Everything from booking and during the stay went very good. Ryan answered all our questions right away each time if it was before our during our stay. The condo is totally renovated and all you can wish for is there. Excellent view at the ocean and the whales that pass by every day! The condo is on a small resort area with only 2 story buildings, this condo on the lower floor. It makes everything a little quiter in compare to the big resorts where there are high story appartments and a lot of people. Parking is available and very handy. Also laundry and bbq are not far from the condo, only a few steps away. Shops and restaurants are on walking distance what makes it very handy during the stay. The condo is on a 10 minute drive from center Lahaina. We would for sure choose this condo and location again on our next stay in Lahaina! Thank you Ryan!

This condo is an absolute delight. Four of us stayed there and had the most amazing, and relaxing time. It iis really nicely finished and the kitchen had absolutely everything you could want. It sits right on the ocean so most nights we made dinner and just sat out on the lanai listening to the ocean and looking at the stars. Despite being part of a complex we found it to be really quiet and peaceful. Ryan was supportive and attentive. There isn't really a beach but the double reef makes it very protected for swimming and we saw a number of turtles. Snorkeling gear was provided and we went out snorkeling several times during our stay. Totally recommended!

We loved staying in Maui Sands. Our unit...WHAT a VIEW! It's a perfect location so you feel removed from all the action but close enough to all the action that you can be in the thick of it in minutes. The complex is older but this unit is updated and modern. Great price/value. Mornings with coffee and evening wine on the lanai were highlights of the trip. Ryan, the owner, is attentive and cares that you enjoy your stay. He provides all the extras so really all you need to do is grocery shop and then have fun! Slappy Cakes (breakfast), taco shop steps from your door, Dukes within walking distance. So many bonuses. It made us explore more than we normally would which was GREAT!

We loved this place and would love to stay again. We stayed for two weeks! The location was great. Not too touristy. Great location right on the beach. Plus they had all of the beach accessories that we needed including beach chairs, towels, snorkels, and boogie boards and a surf board. The house was incredibly clean and up to date, just wish there was a second full bath. Awesome kitchen as well. Cant wait to get back. THanks Ryan!

Ryan does an excellent job in every detail of the condo. It is clean, modern and in an excellent location. My wife and two teenage kids loved the place. You could simply go out back and snorkel and see sea turtles as we did from day one. The location is ideal. We could walk to stores and places to eat and it is not far from places like the Westin or Black Rock Beach. We would rent this place again. In fact I have recommended it to my Brother for his trip next summer :-)

My husband, teenage daughter, boyfriend and myse just returned from spending 8 glorious days at this unit. From booking the reservation to checking out, Ryan (the owner) was extremely prompt in returning emails, answering questions and making sure we were informed about everything we needed to know about our stay. Upon stepping into the unit on the first afternoon we arrived we were thrilled to see that the photos on the website are exactly what the unit looks like. The view is direct oceanfront, literally 10 feet to the seawall and the ocean beyond. Also, being in a ground unit is very convenient.
The condo itself is updated and has a very nice kitchen, bathroom and half bathroom, nice tile floors and great outdoor furniture on the lanai. The only drawback would be the size of the bedrooms (they are small) but since all we did was sleep in them, they were adequate. The bedrooms are at the back of the house, away from the ocean, but we could distinctly hear the waves crashing all night long; very relaxing way to fall asleep. The little extras like boogie boards, snorkel gear, beach chairs, umbrella, towels, cooler, etc. all helped to make beach days quite easy and affordable. The purified water system allowed us to refill our water containers each day and save a lot of money by not having to purchase bottled water. We spent most nights at the condo cooking dinner and watching the sunset. We also watched movies on Ryan's awesome T.V. and listened to music frequently on our Ipods on the awesome sound system.
The condo is tasteful, updated and confortable - perfect for four people. With the 1/2 bathroom, even though we had to share the shower there were two areas to get ready in which made it doable. The location of this condo, in my opinion, was perfect. We could go one direction and be in Napiili or the other and be in Kaanapali or Lahaina, all within 10-15 minutes. The grocery store, Farmer's Market, and other shops nearby were within walking distance. My husband and I spent many mornings walking the beach walk located only a couple blocks from the condo. Maui Sands IS an older complex and the pool, pool furniture and laundry facilities are quite outdated but the mature grounds and beautiful landscaping are awesome. Plus, having an older complex meant we were that much closer to the ocean! Overall, this condo was exactly as described and in a perfect location. We'd love to rent it again in the future and I highly recommend this gem in Maui.

We were so pleased in every way! The condo was so well stocked with all we might need. Loved the terrific snorkels and masks, the great stash of spices (dried and fresh), towels, soaps, cutlery, any and all cooking utensils, the "Best Of" guides. And your remodel/updating was really nice. So comfortable. We can't thank you enough for opening up your vacation home for us to enjoy. So much so that it's possibly planted the seed of us looking for a place in Maui Sands of our own! Merely a wish at this point.
The boys are ready to make it an annual trek. Our nine year old has even offered to save his allowance ($3 a week) to help make it happen. It's the thought that counts.
MAHALO many times over!

This property is awesome and it exceeded our expectations!
I’m a travel agent (have been for 10+ years) and consider myself very picky. I looked at tons of condos to rent before I decided on this one. Not only did the condo look exactly like the pictures ,they have thought of every detail. Every detail! Ryan was a joy to work with and emailed me right back with any questions I had. Rarely do I ever stay at the same place (because I like to mix it up and stay where I have not stayed before) . But I will for sure be booking this property again, and again (anytime I travel to Maui).
I would highly recommend this condo to any of my client’s, friends, and family.
Thank you Ryan for the use of your lovely condo we had an amazing time and the location could not be more perfect. I’m already missing it – wish I could be back there now!

My family and I were staying at Maui Sands, Unit 4B, for 5 nights from 8/18/12 to 8/23/12. We had a wonderful stay at this property and definitely would recommend this property to our family and friends. The owner is very helpful and professional; he also cares deeply about the environment. The description of this unit on VRBO website is very accurate. Maui Sands is a two-story building and this unit is on the ground level with two bedrooms and 1.5 bath. This condo is clean and modern yet charming. It's fully furnished with the best equipments especially the entertainment center.
My college age children think the condo is very cool and one of the kinds. We really enjoyed the ocean front and view from the lanai. Personally, I felt relaxing and peaceful when looking out to the ocean every morning and when returning to the condo in the evening to watch the amazing sunset. We have been to Maui three times; by far, this was the best trip. It's because our children are older now but also because this condo was so comfortable.
Ryan, thank you for providing a wonderful place for our vacation and hopefully it'll still be the same for our next visit.

We found out about Maui Sands years ago and fell in love with the place back then, pretty much we were satisfied just having the ocean front views; now after discovering your place it was like being in a penthouse not only do we have the great ocean front views but all the wonderful comfort amenities and more. Having the parking on the other side of the condo allows you to walk through the lovely garden area.
Upon entering using the touch pad and walking into the tastefully decorated condo it gives you a sense that you have arrived. We became quite familiar with all the amenities in a short time thanks to your guides and settled in. Morning was our favorite time, we tuned in "IZ" on Pandora while having our breakfast on the lanai soooo relaxing. Having all the necessities to prepare meals in the kitchen accented by the different lighting levels complementing the well chosen colors and materials was inviting.
As they say its the small things that make the difference and yes the grocery cart worked on so many different occasions, the beach chairs and umbrella are wonderful accessories that add that special touch. It was if nothing was overlooked making our stay the WOW FACTOR! Anyone thinking of visiting maui to enjoy the low key laid back style you will have that and more while staying at sands.

Thank you so much for providing us with a wonderful place to stay. The view was breath-taking, the access to the beach, the perfectly positioned Lanai, the best equipped and beautiful kitchen (with a view), the dining area (with a view), and did I mention the “WOW VIEW” The Condo was Beautiful recently remodeled, right on the ocean. The condo was equipped with many thoughtful items (so easy to use and enjoy), the bathrooms (ah that wonderful rain shower head), and comfortable beds! I really appreciated things like the hugh tub to store our snorkel equipment, filtered water, pegs and towel racks for drying wet suits and towels. I especially loved the grocery cart, and the (ahhhh) message chair.
The fruit basket was so welcoming. It was great to have fully equipped kitchen nicely stocked with condiments and soap, even extra beach towels. We enjoyed Netflix and the Wi-fi internet connection. Access to the condo was easy and in an excellent central location with nearby stores, and several restaurants. Great instructions on how use the equipment, ice maker and tips like backing up into the parking location. We had a great time and had everything we needed. One tip you didn’t mention to us and we had to find out by ourselves was that the snorkeling was good right out back and that the green turtles come by most evenings to feed. Mahalo

Well, as I said we had a great time. The condo is very modern and clean with all the amenities needed (and more). The element that made everything so much better was the location. I just can't say enough how being 10' from the water magnifies the fun factor. We also loved picking fresh mangos from the tree every day. I hope that was OK.
We had an additional bonus of privacy as all units surrounding yours were empty while we were there (with exception of 1st night upstairs was occupied). We felt like we owned the whole place.
Thanks for the guide books. They were very helpful for us 1st timers. I added to your collection by leaving "The Road to Hana" CD and map that we bought. Perhaps others will find it useful.
I'm attaching a sunset picture taken from the lanai. However, it really doesn't come close to the professional photos on your website.

The condo was beautiful and sooooo much fun for all of us. I knew my family would appreciate that we were so close to the ocean. It was a doorway away. I will be sure and download the ocean sound for times when I want to enjoy the sound of the ocean.
We really appreciated the snorkeling gear. My youngest daughter and I swam with a green sea turtle outside the condo. I will be sure and post a comment when things slow down here for me. I came back to the last week of school and getting ready to teach summer school to 24 first and second graders.

Our 3 week stay at your beautiful condo was absolutely "Paradise on Earth". From the moment we walked in your unit, we knew we would love our holiday in Maui. At first glance we saw the magnificent view of the turquoise ocean, glittering under blue skies, and heard the sound of the waves just outside your patio doors. The Hawaiian Beach decor with surfboard and spears as well as gorgeous framed pictures added to my excitement of being in a very happy place. As we stepped outside, just 10ft from us, beyond the rock wall, was the beach, where young children could play in the water when the tide was low and just beyond that we could watch surfers, kayakers, sailboats, and the island of Molokai. WOW !!!! Snorkelling was fun and safe between the two reefs. We ate most of our meals on the very private Lanai, especially in the evening, watching the most beautiful sunsets imaginable. We also saw spectacular rainbows on a few misty days.
My husband especially loved to sit in your comfy loungers with binoculars in hand counting the number of times whales would jump consecutively. One jumped more than 50 times! I must also mention how much he relaxed and fell asleep in the massage chair ...that was quite a treat especially after a day of exploring other beaches or after a long walk down the boardwalk. It was fun stopping at different resorts along the way for a refreshing Hawaiian drink. We certainly loved watching 3D TV and listening to music with your amazing sound system.
Everything we needed was there for us, from beach towels, beach chairs, umbrellas to a grocery pull cart that we often used because the grocery stores were close by. The kitchen was my favourite spot. For some reason it was different than cooking at home, again perhaps because of the awesome view and the sound of the waves. I loved the large granite counter and the Bamboo cabinets, the deep sink and the double oven stove. Nothing missing in that kitchen... a beverage fridge, even a water purifier for drinking water and ice. I was really happy that we never had to turn on the air conditioner. The condo was always cool because of the ocean breeze and the ceiling fans. The organic sheets and towels were a bonus. The pebble stone floor and the granite seat in the spacious shower gave it a spa feeling. I must add that we never slept better in that king size bed lulled by the sound of the ocean waves.
Looking forward to our next visit to Paradise!

This unit at Maui Sands is a jaw-dropper and my fave Maui accommodation to date. The walk out lanai stretches the width of the unit providing a spectacular view of the blue ocean, big sky and Molokai in the distance. I'd have my morning yoga practice on the cool lanai floor and spend many hot afternoons lounging on the comfy chaise counting whales. I can't even tell you how many humpbacks I saw, males chasing females, breaches, fin slaps, mamas and calves. It was insanely exciting and so AWEsome (in the true sense of the word :).
There were 6 of us (4 adults and 2 babies) and I never felt cramped. The lanai essentially extends the condo to the ocean. On low-tide, the water is kid friendly (mellow and shallow) up to the first reef and shaded until 11 am. The water in between the first and second reef is the next step up in terms of waves and great for long swims, snorkeling and stand-up paddle boarding. In my opinion, crossing over the second reef into the open ocean should only be done at high tide because this barrier reef is a living reef and urchin inhabited. Reef shoes are useful for crossing the inner reef. We picked up our for $9 at the ABC store next door.
Here’s what I thought were the Pros:
- Stunning beauty: ocean, whales, flowers, trees, oh my...
- Organic linens and other eco-minded touches.
- Filtered water (without it, the water tastes like chlorine).
- Lots of dining options, organic grocery store and farmer's market a short walk away.
- Long oceanfront board walk a short walk away great for strolling, running (and even running with a stroller).
- Plastic coffee maker. A stainless steel Moka Pot/stovetop espresso maker would be amazing!
- White lanai floor gets dirty fast which can be problematic if you are vacationing with uber tidy friends or family (as I was :).
- The loudness of the ocean initially freaked me out the first night. I think there was a winter storm swell going on - but I became used to it by the second night - I guess I could have closed the windows too.

The renovations are all great and as far as we can see most things work really well and are very functional. The unit has worked out really well for our family of four. We certainly enjoyed your condo very much and would definitely consider renting it again if we visit Maui again
