Maui Back in Time

Built in the 60s when life was slower.

The grounds of Maui Sands

Maui Sands is a Honokowai oceanfront condo complex that consists of seven two-storey buildings spread amongst approximately 3 acres of mature landscaping that fronts the emerald blue pacific ocean. It was built back in the 60s when land was cheap and developers could afford to sparsely populate the land. There is a pool surrounded by greenery and plenty of space to lounge in the chairs poolside. Free wireless internet is available at the pool and in most common areas of the grounds. There are propane barbeques situated throughout the complex, picnic tables near the pool area and a vintage shuffleboard built back in the 1960s.

Maui Sands is one of a privileged handful of condo complexes that border the Kahekili Marine Reserve where many species of endemic Hawaii fish species are protected from fishing. As a result the ecosystem is allowed to thrive and abundant marine life can be seen. Beyond the reserve is the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale Marine Sanctuary and constitutes one of the world's most important humpback whale habitats. Sightings of Humpback whales is a very common event from December to April.

Spacious grounds

"Maui Sands was built back in a time when property wasn’t as expensive and developers took the time and money to make sure that their condos were surrounded by lush landscaping. It’s hard to get a unit with a bad view: they either face the ocean (with views of Lanai and Molokai) or tropical gardens blooming with brilliant hilconis, flowering hibiscus and sweet smelling ginger." - Fodors Travel Guide

Maui Sands has the highest land to condo ratio of any oceanfront condominium complex in Honokowai. What this means to you is: Less crowds, less noise, More laid back, more peaceful and more relaxing. View the condo density comparison chart for details.

They host an outdoor Farmers market 3 times a week (mon/wed/fri) from 7am to 11am.

A regular chain grocery store called "Times Market" is located in the opposite direction only 500 yards from Maui Sands.

Kahekili Marine Reserve

"The reserve's purpose is to protect and enhance the coral reef and native marine life in this area."

Maui Sands is one of the privileged few that is direct ocean front to one of only three conservations zones in Maui - the Kahekili Marine Reserve. The reserve protects marine life by banning the kill, injure or capture of rudderfish, parrotfish, any of Hawaii’s 24 species of surgeonfish, and any sea urchin. Also banned is the feeding directly to or in the vicinity of any marine life, except while fishing for permitted species. With these restrictions in place, the marine life within this reserve is protected and free to flourish which means snorkelling out front will be all that more enjoyable and fish-filled!
